01 Apr The Majestic Indian Wedding in Portugal of Kanishka & Rajat
July 2023 | Penha Longa & Forte da Cruz
Capturing the unique and emotional moments of Kanishka and Rajat’s Indian wedding was an honor for our team. We knew from the start that this wouldn’t be just another wedding, but an unforgettable celebration that would combine the charm of European landscapes with the couple’s rich Indian heritage.
Kanishka and Rajat’s love story led them to choose Portugal as the setting for their big day. Inspired by the timeless beauty of the country and the serenity of its spaces, they planned every detail of the celebration with Rupali and Coral from Details Weddings with a clear purpose: to create an atmosphere that reflected the sophistication and elegance of their cultural roots.
The festivities for this Indian wedding began with the traditional Haldi in the iconic Cloister of the Penha Longa Monastery, elegantly decorated by João Nuno Martins, which set the tone for a weekend full of symbolic and emotional moments.
Our team was there from day one, with the aim of capturing the rituals, the most genuine expressions and the countless details that made this event so special.
Mission accomplished, we’d say.
The big day started early, with a moment for two: the long-awaited first look. This choice allowed the bride and groom to have some time alone before the celebrations, giving us a unique opportunity for a more personal and emotional photo session.
Kanishka looked stunning in a red Sabyasachi lehenga that evoked the grandeur of Indian royalty. Rajat, meanwhile, complemented the bride perfectly with his tailor-made outfits – a pure harmony between tradition and modernity that was visible in every photograph.
The celebration itself began with the traditional Baraat, a vibrant moment where Rajat was welcomed in style by his friends and family. Meanwhile, Kanishka, surrounded by the support of her friends, waited and prepared for a triumphal entry, a moment full of expectation and emotion.
The Hindu ceremony in the majestic Garden of the Nuncio at Penha Longa was undoubtedly the highlight of the day. The origins of this space date back to the 16th century, when it served as a place of contemplation and retreat for those seeking tranquillity and reflection. Today, it is the ideal setting for ceremonies such as Kanishka and Rajat’s Indian wedding, as it offers a unique combination of ancient charm and contemporary comfort.
Just look at how the magnificent mandap, elegantly decorated, became the centerpiece of this ceremony that enveloped us all in its beauty and spirituality.
After the ceremony, the guests went for a cocktail at the Forte da Cruz, in Estoril, built in the 17th century during the reign of Philip III of Portugal and IV of Spain.
The lilac flowers and soft lighting transformed the venue into a dream setting, where the couple danced to “Shine Bright Like a Diamond”. A moment of pure celebration and joy.It was a privilege to be able to capture the beauty of these spaces that we already know so well, but also the elegance of the decoration and, of course, the most important thing: the joy and love that was felt by everyone present.
This is Aguiam’s photographic style: a balanced mix of spontaneous photos and directed shots when necessary. It is in this way, with the sensitivity to choose what each couple needs at each moment, that we achieve images that are art and that, over time, will become their fondest memories.
Every detail of this wedding was thought out with care and dedication, and it showed.
Over the course of four days, we worked closely with exceptional suppliers, such as Details Weddings for the planning and Penha Longa Resort for the catering, to ensure that every image captured conveyed the essence of this unique day.
We are certain that, through our lens, we were able to immortalize every moment, every smile and every tear of joy, so that Kanishka and Rajat will have a visual record that will allow them to relive the magic of their wedding whenever they want.
If this is the kind of careful, attentive and artistic record you’re looking for on your wedding day, contact us.
